What if I am involved in an accident?
Please follow these steps below if involved in an accident (further advise on what to do after an accident can be read here ):
Call the emergency services if there are any injuries, damage to either vehicle involved, or if you believe you are not at fault. Having a police report is your best defence during an insurance investigation.
Contact us on info@ugoscooters.com to tell us there's been an accident.
Collect the following information:
If someone was injured, note whether the individual was taken from the scene in an ambulance, and find out which hospital they were taken to.
Record when (date and time) and where the incident happened.
Get the contact details for all parties involved, including the driver's name (and vehicle owner, if different from the driver), phone number, address, licence number, insurance company and policy number, vehicle registration plate number and vehicle identification number (VIN).
If there was damage to an object (fence, sign, post, etc), get the contact information of the owner.
Protect your version of the incident:
Take pictures of all damage and the scene of the accident. This is very important for any insurance claim that might be filed.
Get independent witnesses. Your passengers, family and friends do not count as independent witnesses. If any other bystanders witnessed the incident, ask for their contact details and get them to write down what they saw.
Take note if any party apologises or accepts responsibility for the incident. If possible, get it in writing and notify us of this information.
Unfortunately your ability to hire another scooter maybe suspended, until we obtain all of the details about the accident. For insurance purposes, we have to complete a thorough investigation, but you will be notified as soon as your suspension has been lifted. This process usually takes about 2-3 weeks. You can always email info@ugoscooters.com if you have any questions.
Does the scooters come with breakdown cover?
All vehicles are covered with breakdown assist. When you hire a vehicle you will be given details of who to contact in such an event.
Insurance and Damage
What is a damage fee and when does it apply?
Insurance is included, but if you happen to be involved in an incident a damage fee may apply. A damage fee can apply for dents, scratches, collisions, flat tyres, batteries (from leaving the lights on), engine problems, vandalism, theft, and third party damages.
If a sufficiently insured third party is found to be 100% at-fault, then you (the customer) would not be responsible for the damage fee. Customers are also not responsible for normal wear and tear on the vehicle. However, the fee does apply to damage caused by unavoidable events such as floods, hail, wind, trees falling, etc.
Before riding away on the scooter you and a member of the team will check the scooter and report any damage. This ensures that you will not be held responsible for damage that may have happened before your reservation.
What happens during an accident investigation?
Your first responsibility is to contact our insurance company and give them the information about the incident (details of who to contact will be in the hire agreement.
If you believe anything was unusual or you have some concerns (for example, maybe there was pre-existing damage), let the insurance company know.
We will inspect the vehicle for damages and it roadworthiness.
If an insurance claim is necessary, one will be filed with the appropriate company. If you receive any communications from the other party or their insurer, please notify us as quickly as possible with their information (including company name, adjuster name, claim number, and phone number).
You will be notified via email when all the steps of the investigation are complete and, based on the estimate of damage we receive from our repair shop, and whether or not a damage fee applies.

Other information about moped rental
Do you need to provide your own insurance?
If you are looking for London moped rental which provides insurance as part of the hire, the good news is all ugo scooters mopeds come with insurance included. This will save you not only a lot of stress, but is also a great deal of money. Our partnership with Delivery platforms means our insurance documents can be uploaded to the Deliveroo app within a matter of hours.
Do you provide Hire and Reward Food Delivery Insurance?
Yes, all the scooters that we rent out have hire and reward moped delivery insurance included with the rental. The insurance documents are provided via email on the day that you start hiring a moped.
Hire and reward scooter delivery insurance is essential for anyone looking to work for companies such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat. Without the correct insurance, you will not be accepted as a driver.
Do you provide Social Domestic and Pleasure moped insurance?
We understand that not everyone who rents a moped from us works for a delivery platform such as Deliveroo. Some people rent a scooter as a cheaper, quicker and more flexible way of riding to work every day. Our insurance covers you for this type of riding so you dont need to panic, you are covered for all scenarios. Social Domestic and Pleasure moped insurance (also known as SD&P) covers you for travel for riding to work, seeing friends or going to the shops to pick up groceries.
An SD&P moped insurance policy does not cover you if you plan on delivering food or parcels for a living as a way of making money.
Can I work for Deliveroo and Uber Eats
Yes. We are one of few moped rental companies that allow you to work for apps such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats, and you may be able to rent a scooter and start with Uber Eats the same day. This is perfect news if you are looking to make a bit of extra money on the side.
Can I rent a moped without a CBT?
No. Unfortunately you must have a CBT and at least a provisional licence if you want to rent a scooter from ugo scooters. This is for your own safety and also satisfies our insurance criteria. A CBT is a days training which provides you with the knowledge and best practices to ride a moped safely on the road. Whilst you can never guarantee passing the certificate 99.9% of all the people who completed their CBT passed first time.
Is petrol included with the scooter rental?
The scooter will have some petrol inside when you rent it. However, we ask that when you return the moped you ensure the same amount of fuel inside is left. failure to do so may result in charges being applied.
How much does it cost to rent a moped in London?
To rent a scooter in London it can cost between £79 - £160 per week. You can rent a moped from ugo scooters for a little as £83 per week for Honda Vision 110cc.
What are the benefits of petrol over electric scooters?
Charging:
One of the major benefits delivery drivers mention about using a petrol scooter is that you can stay out working longer than if you used an electric scooter.
An electric scooter may have to be ridden home or to another location to be charged for hours. This is bad news for delivery drivers since the time you are spending charging an electric scooter could be spent getting paid by Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Petrol scooters, in comparison, can be refuelled at any petrol station, which is incredibly convenient.
Speed:
Petrol scooters are also quicker than electric, which is important since this enables you to keep up with the flow of traffic and overtake (if it is safe to do so) in a more controlled way.
